Death Apr - Jun 1931 Age 52 Reigate 2a 292
George Dyer was an itinerant traveller, a horse trainer & seller. He is buried in Merstham, Surrey along with his father.
He preferred to live in outhouses, separately from his wife (Beatrice), who started as a maid at Coppice Lea, Bletchingley Road, Merstham for the Stephens family, (including Anthony Stephens (1911 -2001)), after George died and was promoted to Cook, second in command of the domestic staff. She resided in a room in the house and was always in service. Beatrice was the daughter of the publican of The Feathers public house in Merstham. Beatrice & George met when he was a coachman for a company in Horley. His job took him from The George public house in Crawley on various stops including The Feathers at Merstham. At each stop, they would change horses, in order that the horses could rest between pulling the coaches.
